Parents Fuming After Hooters Sponsor Cub Scout Camp

What started as a dream day at summer camp quickly turned sour after parents discovered photos of their children posing with Hooters restaurant waitresses at a Cub Scout camp. Apparently, Cub Scout organizers failed to tell parents who was sponsoring the three-day event.

Good deeds never go unpunished

The Boy Scouts of America are known for their value-based youth programs. Hooters restaurants on the other hand are known for … their wings (among other things). Still in the spirit of charity, Hooters, best known for its scantily clad servers, approached the organization about working with the scouts.

And that left parents like Michelle Kettleborough fuming after she picked up her seven-year-old son from the Frontier District Day Camp and found him surrounded by people wearing Hooters visors, according to KMGH-TV.

But parents say it isn’t the attire that has irritated them — shorts and fitted T-shirts — it’s that Hooters doesn’t fit the Scout philosophy, they claim.

Hooters posts photos

Hooters Colorado posted photos of boys holding their craft projects and posing with employees on their Facebook page. But they quickly removed them after a backlash from disgruntled parents. Later Hooters reposted the photos with a caption that reads, “We have opted to repost pictures due to a news story that ran this evening that was completely inaccurate! We are disappointed a good deed was portrayed in a poor light.”

The Boy Scouts of America Denver Area Council apologized for the girls’ attire, but say they are grateful for their sponsors.

The Boy Scouts of America provides character-building programs for young people and helps them become responsible and participating citizens. Do you believe Hooters sponsorship was in poor taste and unbefitting the Scouts? Or do you believe their good deed was portrayed in a negative light?

  1. Agreed! And also teach about sex, sexuality and not over reacting to something like Hooters girls. The girls are far less harm than guns are!

  2. Part of teaching about sexual things is to dress properly and not placing yourself in situations that cause lust… these things are sin, possessing a firearm for self protection is not… so really, those thing are far more harm if it causes you to lose your sole.

  3. Sex, the body and even feelings sure scare some people. What a shame! I commend these young ladies for their time and effort in sponsoring a cub scout camp. I don’t see the complaining parents volunteering any thing but noise.

  4. What an excellent idea extraordinaire!!! This is the best age to “indoctrinate” these young men with what is the norm and the natural course of nature. Now that the Boy Scouts have been forced to have gay scout “leaders” and have been forced to include gay “boys” among the ranks, this will help keep these young men on the straight and narrow when they are force-fed perversions and crimes against nature as they progress through adolescence. Go HOOTERS!!! Keep up the good work!

  5. so ur sayin u want a gay club to sponser cub scouts instead shit id perfer the hooter girls my self

  6. What about over reacting to “scantily dressed girls”?
As said earlier seems much ado about nothing…given the much larger societal concerns to prepare children for.

  7. I do have a child! And I still think it’s an over reaction! On the parents part…and on your part. They’re just Hooters girls…not porn stars!

  8. If by good values, you mean narrowminded….. There’s nothing to say, but look around… in the mall, at the pool, on the street, it’s not like they don’t see worse. But I wonder how many of the parents won’t go to Hooters (OR ANY sportingevent) because of the same principal they used for their outrage over their kids being sponsored for a couple of days of fun…….. I think the fact that Hooters decides to sponsor the camp, is a nice thing. Good for them to repost the pictures and try to set things in their right place.

  9. I can not believe that any one would think that this is ok! What has happened to morals and decency? No one but the parent has a right to decide what their underage children should be involved in. Shame on the Boy Scouts of America for not standing on the side of decency!

  10. In my opinion this calls for leniency!
Don’t judge others if you don’t want to be judged!
Remember how you judged that I don’t have a child?

As I said before…it’s just hooters girls…what’s the big deal? They’re doing a good deed by sponsoring the camp

  11. You’re funny! Thx for the LMAO post
Surely you don’t want religious men in long robes in charge there? Claiming to be “saving souls”

  12. Surely you don’t condone an organization with men long robes in charge of young boys! All in the name of “saving souls”?

  13. I have been to Hooter’s, like you said you see much worse out on the street, then in Hooter’s, they have skin color tights on at every one that I have been to in 5 Different state. VG

  14. Yeah, right. Everyone has “morals and beliefs” though they will not always align with yours…or mine.
I stand by my opinion…it’s much ado about nothing! Given societies concerns.
