6 Reasons To Stop Shaving Down Under

Nothing is more natural than the hair growing out of our skin, yet we often treat our hair “down under” as if it’s a foreign addition to our bodies. Based on a recent study, of the 3,316 women examined, 84 percent engaged in pubic hair removal. Although some of these women only give their genital hair-do a trim, 62 percent opted for complete removal — something which has been referred to as the “Barbie” look.

Hey, we all enjoy the freedom to do as we please, but did you expect so many women to walk around bald? Here is why you should care.

Here’s why you should stop shaving your pubic hair

Although there were many interesting stats presented within the study above, it’s important that we focus on the 59 percent of women who groomed their pubic hair for hygienic purposes. Meaning, somewhere along the way, women decided that this natural collection of hair was dirty and that getting rid of it was the best option.

In reality, pubic hair serves a purpose. While focusing on the health of your genitals, it can actually protect you from dirt and bacteria — which we will discuss momentarily. At the end of the day, the skin which your pubic hair protects is extremely delicate. If you are removing your pubic hair because it looks nicer, you may want to reconsider.

  1. I am amazed by “On each hair follicle, there is a sebaceous gland that releases oils. Once these oils reach the skin and evaporate, they are able to cool the area.” Would you please tell us by how much the area is cooled either as the fraction of a degree by which the temperature is lowered or how many calories/second or watts per square centimeter this cooling mechanism provides? I fear it is basically negligible! Oils evaporate only slowly in most cases and thus are unlikely to cool much and beyond that, I don’t even notice substantial secretion of oil on any hair area, and when little oil evaporates little cooling is produced. Maybe there is sweat supplied in parallel but that is water which does cool strongly per unit of evaporated water, but it is not oil.

  2. while curcumina is readily available in Mexico turmeric is not and curcumina will not dissolve except in oil. How ro prepare the turmeric solution when only oil soluble curcumina is available, please?

  3. Speak for yourself John (Rob). I find the pre-pubescent look to be less attractive, although at my octogenarian time of life, I very seldom get to see the real thing.

  4. One more reason NOT to shave… The “Pubies” are also a natural lubrication mechanism in that when both partners are not shaved the pubic hair functions as a cushion and lubrication against friction. I shaved once long ago and the friction was truly irritating. I couldn’t wait for the little guys down there to grow back.

  5. Personally I feel man gets more excited by looking at the bushy pubic hair (most of the time nice curly too) of women than the fully shaven cund..! Grow my dear gals down below to attract charming men!

  6. Ha! All the women who complain about kissing a dude with a beard or moustache should stop and think. The Brazilian is the best thing to ever happen to dating.

Nothing quite as big a turn-off as finding a Maine Coon Cat down betwixt a lovely lass’s legs!

  7. Good heavens! If all men felt that way the human race would have died out thousands of years ago, long before razors and wax strips were invented. I think a clean, washed, and fresh downstairs is more desirable than a 12 yr old looking pubis.

  8. The classification of the figure used in point #1 about STI, reasoning says that individual excessive into sexual behavior or “dangerous” sexual behavior involving multiple partners have higher rate of thinking too much about their genitals and hence the figures are too high. Seeing the place and make up of hair, there is no reason to thing that hair have any anti-viral, anti-fungal or anti-bacterial properties that would reduce risk.

  9. I joined this discussion and wrote a lengthy reply with reasons why shaving or at least de-hairing is nicer and it is not here. Is this really a discussion or just a one-sided point of view? Less hair is nicer for oral sex and long pubic hair around the vaginal opening can be painfull for both during sex as it gets dragged along. A smooth area around the vagina is so much nicer!

  10. That’s of course only in your mind…. which is a bit of worry. The fact that you are even thinking that I find very creepy indeed.

  11. No, they don’t, I don’t know where people get that idea from
and that would be creepy. It is interesting that only those men who prefer the bush seem to have that point of view, which makes me wonder….
